Blood Donation (Season 2)
Donating blood is a very simple procedure[glow=red,2,300][/glow] that will take a few minutes of your time. At the same time blood donation will give you the following benefits.
Your bone marrow will be stimulated to produce new and active cells, which in turn make the blood forming organs function more effectively.
You will get a personal health check-you will know your blood type, hemoglobin and blood pressure.
More volunteer blood donors would meet supply of blood.
It is something that will make you feel good about yourself especially when you had helped your colleague who needs units of blood.
Who are qualified to donate blood?
You must be 18 to 65 years old
You must be at least 110 pounds or 50 Kilograms
Your hemoglobin level must be at least 125 g/L (not anemic)
Your blood pressure must be between:
Systolic: 90-150 mmHg
Diastolic: 60-100 mmHg
Pulse: Rate= 50 to 100 beats/min.
Regular rhythm
Before donating blood:
Have enough rest and sleep
No alcohol intake at least 24 hours
No medication for at least 24 hours
Eat light meals, avoid fatty foods
Drink plenty of fluids like water and juice.
Presenting to you the "pathopysiology" of blood donation: ;D
Approach first the Receiving section then inform the attendant on your purpose which is to donate blood. Subsequently. the attendant will give you a Blood Donor Interview Sheet. Answer it honestly then return it to the Receiving section.
While sitting at the lobby, wait for your name to be called by a qualified personnel as your v/s, weight, blood type & blood for CBC will be taken. After that, go back to the lobby as your name will be called again for the physician to assess you. In this stage, you will know if you cannot donate blood. After the physician had assesses you, go back to the waiting area and wait for your turn to donate blood.

A qualified medical technologist will call your name and direct you to the blood donation area.

You will be given a Blood Donor's Card by the Red Cross personnel.

If had donated blood recently, just approach me and show your Blood Donor's Card so that I can give you a Proud Blood Donor badge/sticker as a sign of your unselfish donation of your precious blood.
